Is the trial lesson really free?
Yes — a full 30-minute 1-on-1 session with a matched tutor. No credit card required to book it. About 70% of families decide to continue after the trial; if you don’t, there’s nothing to cancel.
How does the tutor matching work?
A real human (usually Lisa or one of our matchers) reads your intake form and picks 2–3 tutors who’ve taught your child’s curriculum recently. You pick from those. We don’t use an algorithm or a marketplace ranking — we know our tutors personally.
Are the tutors qualified teachers?
Most are current or former classroom teachers who teach with us part-time. A smaller number are senior university students who excelled in the same exam stream — only in subjects where current-curriculum experience matters more than years of teaching. We list each tutor’s background openly on their profile.
What if my child needs more than 4 sessions a month?
Buy additional sessions at $22 each on Starter or $19 on Family — same as the included sessions. You can also upgrade to Family if you have multiple children.
Do you do exam-prep blocks?
Yes. We offer 4-week intensive blocks before HSC, NCEA L3, and IB exam windows. These are billed separately and bookable from your dashboard about 6 weeks before the exam period.
What ages and year levels do you cover?
Year 7 through Year 12 (HSC), NCEA Levels 1–3, and IB MYP / DP. We don’t do primary-school tutoring — not because it isn’t worthwhile, but because our tutor pool is specialised for adolescent learners and exam content.
How do you handle parent supervision?
All sessions are video-recorded by default. Parents can review any session from the dashboard. Tutors are aware of this; nothing happens in a session that wouldn’t happen if you were sitting in the room.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — if you’re not happy with a tutor within your first paid month, we’ll refund that month in full and rematch you. After the first month, you can cancel at any time and we won’t charge another month.
